Cam and follower design with continuity correction

CamForge is browser-based cam design software for mechanical engineering education and preliminary mechanism design. It combines a cam profile generator, motion-law selection, follower analysis, and practical checks in one interactive workspace.

Cam profile and SVAJ analysis

  • Build a full 360° cam cycle from motion segments.
  • Compare displacement, velocity, acceleration, and jerk diagrams.
  • Analyze roller and flat-faced follower geometry, pressure angle, and curvature.

Correct discontinuities between segments

The main CamForge differentiator is its discontinuity correction workflow. It diagnoses jumps in displacement, velocity, and acceleration at segment junctions, then searches for a continuous solution by adjusting segment angle β, displacement change ΔL, and, when allowed, the cam motion law. The original and corrected designs can be compared before applying changes.

Engineering analysis and comparison

Use CamForge as a cam mechanism calculator for teaching, early design studies, and motion-law comparison. Review cam and follower behavior, inspect pressure angle and curvature, and compare the original motion with the corrected preview before applying changes.
